"how they persist, how they come to flourish, the tiniest of ants quietly assisting, licking open their petals until the green fists begin to burst, bearing blossoms in such abundance that unless their stems are cut, the entire plant will collapse beneath their own leggy weight, unable to lift their heads in seeming defeat" - oh these words! So beautiful, thank you.
I love this poem and the peonies - thank you for sharing your love for the island with us. I felt like I was there. Such a beautiful ritual of throwing flowers out at sea. Thank you for the prompt, books, recipe, and more. Xo dina
I hope you had a safe trip back home…I look forward to talking to you about the retreat. I was going to read that poem to my students on Friday:) I chose a different one instead. This was a poem you read at one of our mini winter retreats at Tru. I keep it in my yoga bag for teaching. I will read it tomorrow🥰. I like the question at the end…you also had a question. I like that:)
Do you remember Barb Klein from Bodhi Tree? She wrote a book of poems…”111 Invitations..Step into the Full Richness of Life”. I have read quite a few poems from her book. Some of my students have bought the book for their church prayer groups. Very powerful based on her family life experiences. The poem was titled “One day at a Time”. She asks questions too!

thank you Susannah ~ that means a lot coming from you ☺️

I feel similarly about lupines, the bloom I always miss by a week upon my return to Maine each summer. Someday….
probably no shot of growing lupines in AZ… . …
