Sending so much love to you and your mom, Sarah. My mom is arriving Monday for a week. Much cleaning and preparing to do still.
It will be just the four of us on Thursday, so I’m keeping it fairly simple-- a turkey breast, some mash and gravy, green beans and corn bread. I am going to make a Brie and cranberry appetizer, so they’ll also be cranberry sauce at dinner. And a sour cherry crumble for dessert because I have sour cherries in the freezer to use up.
The more important part is that I’m going down to DC for Xmas while the kids are with their dad, so I’ll be with mom for both holidays. It’s been decades since that happened, but I don’t know how many are left with her so it feels right.
Among my gratitudes is you-- your writing and friendship. What a gift you are to this Earth. ❤️
aawww, thank you Asha and for all the ways I appreciate you, your wisdom, and our friendship!
your thanksgiving sounds deliciously simple 💛 we have a slightly larger crew here (seven including my parents, my kids, Evan’s partner and John - then round two with leftovers for his kids the following day). My cooking challenge was to make everything vegan (except for the 🦃 itself) which and has required a bit more recipe testing than in years past, but I think we’ve got everything covered, AND I’m grateful my kids are supplementing the table w a few more sides.
enjoy a double dose with your mother ~ in the madness of the world I’m reminded how important it is to approach life with gratitude for what we do have, rather than wish for what we haven’t.
So glad your mom is recovering:) Thank you for your kind words after our last meet! They meant a lot. We will be taking Thanksgiving to Amsterdam this year to share with my family. My dad is now in the hospital so we are not sure what this year will look like. So I totally get what you meant about normal:) Happy Thanksgiving! PS. I also have a special cranberry sauce!
Sending love to you and your mom.
thank you my friend ~ grateful for you. always
